Continuing the posting of our coverage of this years San Diego Comic-Con, there were so many sights and sounds available to sink in, with our ‘boots on the ground’ checking out as much as they possibly could, as well as interviewing some really cool and interesting creatives, dotted around the show.
Our Sandbox Comics/Literary Reviewer Samantha Maybe took a different approach to not only her con but also the kinds of people that she spoke to, representing The Convention Collective – for 2019, she indulged her passion for books and writers, talking to established talents about the creative process as well as new artists just starting to make their impressions.
One such writer is Katy Rose Pool, the author of THERE WILL COME A DARKNESS, a new YA fantasy novel which is garnering quite the praise and lavish reviews for its rich prose style, wildly inventive landscape and rich, vibrant characters. Due to arrive on shelves from 3rd September, Katy Rose has clearly created something quite emotive and decadent with this book.

Being her debut, Katy Rose is quite new to the publicity machine, let alone the convention circuit so it was interesting to have her talk to Sam about not only the book itself but also her impression of San Diego Comic-Con, and meeting her fans face-to-face, as a first-timer.
Thanks to Katy Rose taking the time to do the interview, and to Sam for helping setting it up. Enjoy!!
