Casper Van Dien is probably best known for his role as Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers. Van Dien is back playing another space marine in Salvage Marines, a series available to stream free on Popcornflix. The series is based on a series of books by Sean-Michaell Argo, portrays a future where people are born into debt and have to work it off. Van Dien’s character joins the Salvage Marines, where a high mortality rate goes along with the high pay, when he finds out his wife is pregnant.
I had the opportunity to interview the cast of Salvage Marines as part of a roundtable discussion, including Van Dien, Peter Shinkoda (Dai on Falling Skies, Nobu on Daredevil tv series), and Jennifer Wenger at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. In addition to some behind the scenes insight into the making of Salvage Marines, the cast dished on Starship Troopers, dressing up at Comic-Con, and playing a small but important role in comic book history.
