Vault Comics have always been different – they have set themselves up to be a true alternative on the comics racks and are truly an independent spirit when it comes to their approaches to comics, their fans, and their attitude when it comes to conventions.
This is represented in a big way by how they have handled the recent health crisis, re: coronavirus and COVID-19, and how it is affecting the attendance at next weekend’s Emerald City Comic Con, still scheduled to be held at the WA State Convention Center over the weekend of Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th March 2020.
Seattle has proven to be ground zero for the outbreak of the virus in the United States, with King County advising against ‘bringing large groups of people together, consider postponing events and gatherings‘ – the area has already seen the highest number of cases reported in the country.
So along with many others, yes, Vault have taken the decision to pull out of the event – but it appears that doesn’t mean they are going to be sat on their laurels over the ECCC weekend…
Vault Regretfully Cancels ECCC 2020 Appearance, Teases Special Virtual Event
Vault Comics has announced they will not be exhibiting at Emerald City Comic Con 2020.
For fans everywhere, including those who will miss them at ECCC, Vault is working on a special virtual event that will include creators, limited edition merchandise, and special sales, and will give fans a chance to talk directly to the Vault team.
“I’m sad to say that Vault won’t be exhibiting at Emerald City Comic Convention this year,” said Vault Publisher, Damian Wassel. “It’s our favorite convention and we’ll miss it dearly. We look forward to returning to Seattle in 2021. In lieu of exhibiting at the convention, we’re organizing a virtual event to support our creative teams and engage our readers everywhere. We’ll share more about that soon.”
More information on this special virtual event will be announced in the next few days.
