Hero Initiative is a group which we are huge fans of here at The Convention Collective – they’re a charity that acts as a financial support system for those creatives in the comic book industry, an industry which really should look after their own properly in the first bloody place. But that’s a whole other conversation.

The organisation will be setting up stall at the Long Beach Comic Con taking over the Long Beach Convention Center this coming weekend (Saturday 31st August-Sunday 1st September 2019) – and they happen to be bringing two legends of the four-colour page with them.

GRENDEL‘s Matt Wagner and JUSTICE LEAGUE‘s Dave Bullock will be representing Hero Initiative at Booth #731 over the course of the weekend, putting pencil and ink to page and meeting-and-greeting fans – they won’t be having their own booth at the con so this will be the only way for people to catch the pair.

It’s not all the group have in mind – or on offer. There’s more information in their press release:

Hero Initiative, the non-profit organization that helps comic book creators in need, is off to Long Beach Comic Con, August 31-September 1, 2019 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

We are the only place to catch artists Matt Wagner (Grendel) and Dave Bullock (Justice League) all weekend. They will be sketching and signing at booth #731, so come on by and check them out!

And while you’re at it, pick up your copy of Hero’s yearly limited edition of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #49. This catch-all of crucial comics info is limited to 500 copies in hardcover only at $35, so make sure you grab one while supplies last. Copies are moving PARTICULARLY fast this year!

Hero’s overstock $1 specials return to Long Beach as well, with a great variety of comics and even hardcover books at a mere $1 each! Only available at the con, and one of each item per customer, so get them while they last!

And make sure you check out Hero Initiative Ambassadors on the floor collecting donations. Creators include Howard Chaykin, Shannon Denton, Gabriel Hardman, Scott Koblish. Scott Kolins, Mike Mayhew, and Marat Mychaels, so stop by and tell them Hero sent you!
