Even though it’s almost been about three weeks since Emerald City Comic Con, and I’m back into “normal” everyday life. I can’t help but terribly miss convention weekend and being around others who share the same love for series that I do. It has also been awful waiting for the weeks to drag by till Rose City Comic Con, even now I’m chomping at the bit to get down to Portland, Oregon and just be there already. There are so many things I can’t wait to see and do at Rose this year, and all the things I know to do this time around too.
I’ve only been to Rose City Comic Con twice in the past, once way back before I was 21 (I feel so old now!) and still in a cosplay group. Then a few years ago before the pandemic, for just a single day (every time I walked the show floor I got lost). Now, I’m finally making my return to a city I love so much and a con I can’t wait to enjoy to the fullest! Although I don’t have any new cosplays planned for this con, not enough time or good time management on my part, I am still excited for the three I’ll be doing again (second run on most of them).
Rose City Comic Con also has a fantastic lineup of panels, events and guests that look so fun! Of course I’m going to try and get to the cosplay panels, and the big contest on Saturday night. Then there are multiple anime meetups and fun panels, booths, and so on. I even spotted an anime panel on cooking what you see in anime, and as someone who can’t cook… I will most definitely put this on top of my list to check out!
There are also so many other things I’m looking forward to at con! Seeing my cosplay friends and hopefully making new ones. Checking out new places for food, instead of the horribly overpriced food at con (that’s not even that good). I of course have to visit the love of my life once or twice while I’m in town… Yes, you heard right. The love of my life, Powell’s Bookstore (just imagine me with heart eyes and swooning). This is pretty much one of my, if not, top places to be in the world. Last time I was there, I lost my friend (or he lost me) for five hours. There are also a few great places to eat near this lovely bookstore, burgers and a cabin in the middle of the city that just sells smores (which are huge and super good!). Plus, I’m excited to see what Portland’s Kinokuniya bookstore has, another great love of mine (as we have one in Seattle too).
If any of you are there at con and spot me, please say hi. Otherwise I’ll be so caught up in con and the many bookstores I plan to visit, I may just never leave! Can’t wait to see how this 10th anniversary turns out for Rose City Comic Con and to see the amazing cosplay and fun to be had!
