SECOND EXTINCTION video game review – Co-op shooter game…with mutated dinosaurs

Screw Jurassic Park! This game has taken me back to my Turok N64 days, granted the graphics for Second Extinction are significantly better. I love that this games campaign mode can be done by yourself or with three other players online, and the weapons are fantastic. You get to choose from a grenade launcher, shotgun, assault rifle, scout rifle, SMG, or minigun. Of course, you must choose a class but you can customize which weapon that class uses if you want. I will say I was disappointed that there were only five characters to choose from in the game, each one matches a different class. You have Rosy, an Enforcer with a mini gun, Amir an Operative who uses a grenade launcher, Ortega is a Trooper and uses an Assault Rifle, Jurgen
(who was my favorite character) a Trooper who uses a scout rifle. The last character is Jack who is also an Enforcer and also uses a mini gun.

Each character also comes with a unique set of abilities for game play, which is typical of shooter games but in this one you get to hunt mutated dinosaurs. I enjoy a different variety of games from action adventures to role playing games to the likes of Super Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog, let us not forget Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Gears of War. However lately Call of Duty: Black Ops has taken up a lot of my and my kids’ time since we all usually play together as a family. My kids like to change up the games they play, from Roblox to Minecraft and Fortnite. Second Extinction stopped them in their tracks though. I started playing it to write up this review and my kids saw me playing and wanted to join so they went on their Xbox Ones and
downloaded it to play. Once it downloaded, I would say we spent about 2 hours playing together, laughing, and screaming as dinosaurs chased us through the different areas of the map trying to eat us.

The moral of that story is this game is awesome for kids and adults, yes it involves guns and maliciously hunting dinosaurs without keeping their hides or eating them, but come on they are trying to kill you. This game is fantastic, we will continue to play it. On a rating scale of A++ to D- I give it the game a A++ rating, of course it is rated M for Mature 17+ due to intense violence, blood and language.

You can find Second Extinction on Xbox One and Xbox Series X for free now if you are a Game Pass member. If you are not a Game Pass member, I would highly recommend signing up for it, or you can purchase the game on Xbox Live for $24.99.

The game is also currently available on Steam early access for PCs, but if you have an Xbox One or Xbox Series X you should definitely check this game out.
