The Comic Stage at the MCM London Comic Con – a headlining event that took over the ExCel Centre in London’s Docklands over the weekend of Friday 26th-Sunday 28th October 2018 – hosted a tsunami of incredible panels, featuring some incredible comics talent from the biggest names in the industry to those enduring creations from the independent books.
One such panel was a celebration of the 10th Anniversary of NEWBURY & HOBBES, born from the mind of writer George Mann in a series of cracking books of steampunk adventures, set in Victorian England, featuring Sir Maurice Newbury, a gentleman “investigator for the Crown” (reminiscent of Mycroft Holmes), and his assistant Miss Veronica Hobbes who, unbeknownst to him, is an agent of the Queen as well.
The characters of the books have also been translated into comics and the latest incarnation of the series will be drawn by artist Dan Boultwood, who comes from a slightly more esoteric body of work but, between the pair of them, will be taking NEWBURY & HOBBES into a bold second decade.
