BitMovio Signs Acclaimed Science Fiction Films and Fantasy TV Series to its Video Entertainment Marketplace

Adaptations of classic novel by Ursula K. Le Guin, and The Outpost from Electric Entertainment and Arrowstorm Entertainment, a national US broadcast primetime TV series currently featured with the CW and Syfy channels, join the growing platform’s arsenal of high quality streaming content

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — November 28, 2018 — BitMovio (www.bitmov.io), an emerging blockchain-enabled video entertainment marketplace, today announced several new partnerships that bring acclaimed science-fiction film and fantasy TV content to its platform, which launched into private beta in September this year.

The Telling, an acclaimed film adaptation of the science fiction novel from influential American author Ursula K. Le Guin, will join BitMovio’s decentralized and blockchain-enabled video streaming marketplace.

Additionally, Mythica, a series of films from Arrowstorm Entertainment and starring Kevin Sorbo of Hercules fame, will join BitMovio’s platform. The fantasy-adventure series The Outpost, from Electric Entertainment and Arrowstorm Entertainment, will also join the platform. The Outpost is currently in pre-production on Season 2 for the CW and is also seen on SYFY international channels around the world. The series is executive produced by Dean Devlin (co-writer and producer of the original Stargate feature film), Jonathan Glassner (creator of the TV series Stargate SG-1), Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin. Notably, The Outpost is the first-ever current on-air series licensed by a blockchain streaming video service in the market today.

Rizwan Virk, co-founder of BitMovio and founder of Bayview Film, which is producing The Telling film, said: “I’ve been a fan of Ursula K. Le Guin’s science-fiction and fantasy work for many years. It was a great privilege to get to know her throughout the development of this project. We’re looking forward to sharing our vision and the film with fans, and also leveraging BitMovio’s innovative distribution model to reach new audiences with her Hainish series.”

“We’ve produced a lot of film and tv projects over the years, and we’ve faced all the frustrations and challenges that exist with current distribution models,” says Arrowstorm Entertainment executive Jason Faller. “This industry is ready for disruption. We’re impressed by BitMovio’s approach to managing, distributing and monetizing video content through blockchain technology, and we look forward to how viewers will respond as the platform launches in the coming months.”

Since revealing the private beta in September, BitMovio has quickly signed over 700 hours of film and television produced content to feature on the platform when it launches to audiences in 2019, including content from 1200 Productions, Black Apple Talent, Elation Media, Fourth Media, Frank Horror, Gross Film, Horror House, ImAirTV, Invictus Entertainment Group, Magic Square Films, Small Basket Studios, and most recently, Mill Creek Entertainment.

BitMovio’s platform is designed with a hybrid blockchain architecture that provides a transparent marketplace, which will enable independent film producers and professional streamers to have complete control of their content distribution, flexible and instant monetization, and engaging audience interaction.
