NEW SERIES FROM THE EISNER AWARD-WINNING TEAM OF JEFF LEMIRE AND MIKE DEODATO JR .
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (March 5, 2019)—Writer Jeff Lemire ( Black Hammer), artist Mike Deodato Jr. ( Thanos), and colorist Frank Martin ( East of West) are joining forces once again, this time to bring a modern twist to an epic fantasy in Berserker Unbound. Dark Horse Comics is excited to release this action-packed new series, with covers by both Mike Deodato Jr. and a first issue variant by Hellboy’s Mike Mignola!
Berserker Unbound kicks off with a merciless, sword-wielding warrior thrown through a wormhole to a modern day metropolis. Our hero quickly realizes that he must protect this new world from an evil wizard who will stop at nothing to send him and this new world to hell.
“I really wanted to draw a barbarian story and Jeff turned this dream of mine into a reality with this deeply emotional story of friendship seen through multiple dimensions. I am not exaggerating when I say this book has the most epic battles I’ve ever drawn! Berserker Unbound is a turning point in my career.” – Mike Deodato Jr.
“As soon as I had a chance to work with Mike Deodato on Thanos at Marvel I knew it would be the start of a beautiful partnership. We immediately started talking about the potential of teaming up for a creator-owned series. Mike is an incredible artist and, with Berserker Unbound, I tried to model a story to all of his many strengths. Berserker Unbound is many things. It has magic, action, and blood, but it also has heart. And it’s not at all what it first appears to be. We’re both very excited to be working together at Dark Horse, with Frank Martin and Steve Wands, to build the worlds of both Berserker and the world of Cobb, his unexpected companion.” – Jeff Lemire
Berserker Unbound #1 (of four) goes on sale August 7, 2019, and is available for pre-order at your local comic shop.
Praise for Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer:
“I don’t read many comics these days and I can’t remember the last time I read a superhero comic, but I’m loving Black Hammer by Jeff Lemire, Dean Ormston, and Dave Stewart.”—Mike Mignola
“I didn’t think something could be thrilling and sad at the same time but now there’s Black Hammer proving me wrong. Amazing, just flat-out amazing.”—Patton Oswalt
“Fantastic.” —Scott Snyder ( Batman, Wytches)
Join the crew of the Orville as they take on all new adventures
MILWAUKIE, Ore., (March 7, 2019)—The Orville Executive Producer/writer David A. Goodman ( Futurama, Star Trek: Enterprise), artist David Cabeza, and colorist Michael Atiyeh ( Halo: Escalation, Tomb Raider) are teaming up to bring all the adventures from the crew of The Orville onto the printed page in The Orville Season 1.5: New Beginnings. These all new adventures will consist of two, two-issue “episodes” bridging the gap between the events of the first season of Seth MacFarlane’s hit television series, and the second season now airing on FOX.
The first of these “episodes” starts with The Orville #1: New Beginnings Part 1 (of two). On their way to a fleet conference, Ed and Gordon investigate a distress signal from a century-old buoy belonging to a Union ship. Back on the Orville, Kelly tries to mediate when Bortus insists on enrolling Topa into school despite him being only a few months old.
The second “episode” begins with The Orville #3: The Word of Avis Part 1 (of two) which sees the Orville intercept a small Union ship en route to the interstellar territory of the easily aggravated Krill. The passengers, originally thought to be a group of xenoanthropologists, turn out to be much, much more interesting and dangerous than the crew of the Orville could’ve imagined.
The Orville #1: New Beginnings Part 1 (of two) goes on sale July 17, 2019 and is available for pre-order at your local comic shop.
About The Orville
Set 400 years in the future, Seth MacFarlane’s hit space adventure series, THE ORVILLE follows The U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the problems of everyday life.
In Season Two, the ship’s crew will meet never-before-seen aliens and face old adversaries, the Krill. They’ll make first contact with a new civilization and revisit the planet Moclus. ED (MacFarlane) and KELLY’s (Adrianne Palicki) relationship also will take a new turn – all of which points to a season filled with adventure, mystery, romance and, as always, some poignant social commentary.
The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Captain, ED MERCER, and Adrianne Palicki as his ex-wife, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, Halston Sage, J Lee, Mark Jackson, Chad L. Coleman and Jessica Szohr.
THE ORVILLE is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created and written by Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga, David A. Goodman, Jason Clark and Jon Cassar serve as executive producers on the series. Jon Favreau directed the series premiere episode.
