One of the more anticipated titles for fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is finally set to be released this week. TMNT THE LAST RONIN #1 was originally set to be released back in August. This delay however wasn’t caused by COVID-19 issues, instead it was because of poor reaction from retailers over the artwork.
Originally the creative team was going to include Andy Kuhn, but he was replaced by Esau Escorza and Isaac Escorza on art, along with Kevin Eastman. The writers on the issue include Eastman along with his original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle co-creator Peter Laird, and editor and writer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title since 2011, Tom Waltz.
The first issue of the five part mini-series will have a whopping 71 different covers (I feel sorry for completionists who want every cover…) and our friends at San Diego’s own El Rey Comics will have one of them.
For their retailer exclusive, El Rey went with Chris Callahan. This version will have a print run of 450 copies and retail for $19.99. Some of you out there may be interested in slabbed/graded versions, and they will also have those available in 3 different versions.
- CGC signed by Chris Callahan for $90
- CGC signed and remarked by Chris Callahan for $125
- CGC signed by both Chris Callahan and Kevin Eastman for $125
