Kickstarter Profile: COMICSCENE HISTORY OF COMICS #5 – #8

Following the hugely successful crowdfunding campaign for the first wave of HISTORY OF COMICS publications – covering the momentous years of 1984, 1977, 1950 and 1986 in comics – Tony Foster and his team are back with another high-quality collection of books which are set to analyse four more years of this art form that we love, including this most tumultuous period of the last twelve months.

2020, 1971, 1976 and 1991 will be the next milestone years tackled by Tony and the gang of ComicScene writers in this Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/comicscene/comicscene-history-of-comics-books-5-to-8. Check it out and get in on this incredible project, today.

COMICSCENE HISTORY OF COMICS BOOKS #5 TO #8

Launched in 2020, the HISTORY OF COMICS is a 100 issue partwork covering comics from 1930 to the present day.  The project is scheduled to end in 2030 with the definitive collection of comic history ever made. The fifth book, The History of Comics 2020, covers history in the making from the year 2020, featuring all your favourite comics from the US, UK and across the world. In each book we also take a closer look at the work of your top characters and creators.   The next three books include 1971, 1976 and 1991.  With each Kickstarter, we offer four books at one time to ‘binge read’.

This kickstarter also offers you the opportunity to catch up and get the first four books in the series featuring 1984, 1977, 1950 and 1986, slipcases to keep them in plus a Comic Club membership card and number, access to the Comic Club online with 2000+ extra digital pages about comics and extra features on the History of Comics website that we couldn’t fit into the books at www.comicscene.org

Each perfect bound book is A4, full colour, 60 pages with optional slipcase that holds four books.

Expect articles to feature comics from the UK, US and worldwide including Action, Bullet, Krazy, Monster Fun, Roy of the Rovers, American Splendour, Fantagraphics, Superman v Spiderman, Adele Blanc-Sec, Airtight Garage, Captain Britain, Frank Bellamy, Storm, Countdown, Knockout, Look-In, Tammy, Hugo Pratt, Blackmark, Sandman Saga, Buyers Guide to Comic Fandom, Fosdyke Saga, Mister Miracle, Talia and Ra’s Al Ghul, Blueberry, Snowbirds Don’t Fly, Blast, Toxic, Zit, Deadpool, Egmont UK, Palookaville, Mandy & Judy, Wizard, Brussels Comic Route Project, The Hulk, Star Wars Dark Empire, Bone, Judge Armitage, Green Lantern, 30 Years of the Judge Dredd Megazine and a Year in the Life of Rebellion, Being a Comic Laureate, Colin Maxwell on secrets behind his first issue of Commando, The Department of Truth, Madi and Keanu on Kickstarter and why crowdfunding is the new way to sell comics, Covid inspired comics from Tales From The Quarantine to Quarantine Comix and The Daleks.
