In the latest installment of our weekly Marvel Comics recap news, we have news on a new Daredevil weekly series that will kick off in January. Also announced this week is the news that Marvel will release a series of Marvel Rising Action Doll Homage variant covers in December. Lastly, was the news of some new titles that will debut in January as part of Marvel’s 80th anniversary celebration.
The MAN WITHOUT FEAR series from writer Jed Mackay and artist Danilo Beyrouth will see the denizens of Hell’s Kitchen having to cope without their guardian.
The first issue will hit shelves on January 2nd, 2019.
On Friday, Marvel announced a series of Rising Action Doll Homage variant covers. The covers will feature characters including Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, America Chavez, Ghost Spider, and Quake in artwork that pays tribute to classic covers from the past.
The five issues will be released starting in December with CHAMPIONS #27 on December 12th, and continue until January 9th when AVENGERS #12 is released.
Lastly this week were announcements of more titles that will be release as part of Marvel’s 80th anniversary celebration including a western title, a comedy title, and a romance title.
Among the titles announced was ZIGGY PIG – SILLY SEAL COMICS, the issue brings back characters that were first introduced in 1942 in KRAZY KOMICS #1, which predates Marvel’s first title. The title characters were created by longtime MAD MAGAZINE artist Al Jaffee.
The new titles announced are
- THE GUNHAWKS #1 written by David and Maria Lapham with interior art by Luca Pizzari, and cover art from Gerardo Zaffino. Release date February 6th, 2019.
- LOVE ROMANCES #1 written by Dennis Hopeless, Gail Simone, Jon Adams and more. Interior art by Jon Adams, Annapaola Martello, Roge Antonio, and more, with Pyeong-Jun Park handling the cover art. Release date February 20th, 2019.
- ZIGGY PIG – SILLY SEAL COMICS #1 written by Frank Tieri with interior art from Jacob Chabot and cover art by Nic Klein. Release date February 27th, 2019.
