REVIEW: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

Title: RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET

MPAA Rating: PG

Directors: Rich Moore and Phil Johnston

Starring: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Gal Gadot, Taraji P. Henson, Alfred Molina, Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill

Runtime:  1 hour 52 minutes

Release date: November 21st (USA)

What It Is: Set six years after the first movie, Ralph and Vanellope must go on a quest to the internet to find a steering wheel controller for SUGAR RUSH.  The reason they need to go to the internet is the controller for the game breaks, and it must be replaced before Mr. Litwak unplugs the game, and sells it for parts.

What We Think:  I was a fan of the first one, and this one does not disappoint.  From the easter eggs which are numerous, to the various Disney references across many licenses (Star WarsMarvelPixar, and more) it is a fun trip back to the world created in WRECK-IT-RALPH

The scenes with the Disney heroines were among my favorite of the movie. The fact that they got almost all of the original voices to reprise their roles was great.

The main cast from the first movie (Silverman, Reilly, McBrayer, and Lynch) all were terrific in their returns to the roles. The new blood to the cast (namely Gadot, and Henson) helped the story progress smoothly.

Aside from the main cast, the supporting voice cast included Disney heroines (and it’s a long list), as well as some veterans from various Disney owned licenses including Tim AllenVin DieselAnthony Daniels, and more. All of whom I enjoyed hearing / seeing on the screen.

I also enjoyed hearing one of John Williams’ classic Star Wars themes, as well as a theme I’d never thought I would hear in a Disney owned project (keep your ears ready for it).

Our Grade: 4/5 – The movie is a great sequel to WRECK-IT-RALPH, and remember to stay for not one, but two after credit scenes. The first one starts about five minutes into the credits, with the second one being after all the credits have ran.
