Thanks to Dark Horse for the review copy!

A new horror survival series from the mind of the great Sean Lewis! When a trip back home to Alaska turns upside down a bunch of military alums are drawn into a deadly battle of life versus death against an otherworldly foe. Something has awakened in the woods and it’s unlike anything they have ever faced before. When they are ambushed by what appears to be the undead speaking in ancient tongues, the few that are left alive retreat to safety to regroup.

When you happen across a plane wreck in a remote forest with only a tall, scary, and bloody guy left standing around a bunch of dead bodies, RUN! HAHA! This was a fun read and a great start by Sean Lewis and team. It definitely has a 30 Days Of Night feel to it but with its own unique style and flair. Sean has always had an effortless way of writing drama and action so that it’s both suspenseful and impactful. This story gets going right out of the gate and it doesn’t let up until the final pages. It’s a pretty wild and thrilling first issue and if it doesn’t get your heartrate up I’m not sure what will. The art is great as well! Crisp and clean lines. Very detailed and gory in the right places without being excessive. The emotional state and facial expressions of the characters are carefully captured and definitely add to the anxiety and tone of the book. As I said, this is a book that just cranks up the tension and doesn’t let go. It’s a very satisfying read that will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next issue, just like me!

My rating is 9/10 Excellent!
