The Convention Collective’s Darren Shulman was very lucky to get the chance to hold a Zoom call with STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE Chase Masterson to talk about her time on the sci-fi parody film UNBELIEVABLE but as part of that conversation, Darren also talked to Chase about her time as a guest actor on a groundbreaking episode of ER and also her incredible work on an initiative to enable the hero in all of us through genre storytelling: the POP CULTURE HERO COALITION.

Created by Chase alongside Heroism Experts Carrie Goldman and Matt Langdon, the Pop Culture Hero Coalition is the first-ever organization that uses the universal appeal of comics, film and television to create anti-bullying programs at pop culture events, and in schools and communities.

Founded in 2013, the PCHC ia a 501(c)(3) non-profit that takes a stand against bullying, racism, misogyny, cyber-bullying, LGBT-bullying, and other forms of hate, using the phenomenal popularity of media to bring justice and healing.

The Coalition’s work features global experts and advocates, including representatives from the United Nations, the Anti-Defamation League, the NOH8 Campaign, Justice League New York, and other major organizations; we also work with clinical psychologists who specialize in using pop culture stories in restorative justice and in therapy for victims of bullying and injustice.

A new sci-fi parody film, UNBELIVABLE!!!!!, is released tomorrow, Saturday 1st August 2020 with a virtual ‘Stay At Home’ Red Carpet Premiere and Live Online Virtual Convention, allowing fans to watch the official release of the movie at home.

The film has been produced independently and wears its low budget and lo-fi production values proudly on its chest – but that hasn’t stopped writer/director/executive producer Steven L. Fawcette and his team from spending every available dollar, favour and resource in amassing a truly interstellar cast, including the likes of Snoop Dogg, Robert Davi, Michael Madsen, Gilbert Gottfried, Katarina Van Derham, McKenzie Westmore and over FORTY former STAR TREK stars from across the franchise’s history, such as Garrett Wang, Nichelle Nichols, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn, Robert Picardo and Nana Visitor.

The duel roles of Captain Connie Garrison and baddie henchwoman Natasha are filled by the captivating talents of Chase Masterson, a STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE alumni who is best known by fans as Quark’s favourite Bajoran Dabo girl, Leeta.

Thanks to Chase for her generous time for this interview and to David Roberson of Roberson Public Relations for setting up the conversation.
