“…To be in England, In the Summertime with my love / Close to the edge…”
Close (To The Edit), The Art Of Noise
Okay, it might no longer be summertime – the nights are drawing in, the temperature is dropping and the leaves are turning a very distinct shade of brown – but that doesn’t mean that we’re not still very deep in comic convention territory, with some incredible events still on the docket.
Coming up in October is Showmasters’ Destination Star Trek in Birmingham, you’ve got the massive gamechanger which is MCM London Comic Con at the end of the month, and in just over a weeks time, the highly prestigious Lakes International Comic Art Festival will take over the Lake District town of Kendal, showcasing some of the worlds finest comic art talent.
To give you an idea of what to expect from the show, we are joined by Julie Tait, the creator of the Festival and its Director – basically, the best person we could ever talk to about the goals and ambitions of the event, along with all of its various presentations and affiliations with other world conventions.
We’re also going to be joined by Ian Loxam and Nicole Bates from the event’s official podcast, to talk us through what they are looking forward to checking out over the course of the weekend: we’re lucky to have them all along to answer any or our – and your – questions about Lakes 2018.
We’re not just looking short-term, mind – we’re also looking into 2018, with next weekend’s Pre-Registration Badge Sale taking place for San Diego Comic-Con. We’ll be looking at the process required for taking part in the Sale, along with some of the best methods to help securing your badge if you’re intending to return next July.
This, and all of the rest of the weeks convention news, including a recap of this weekend New York Comic Con – could we even be getting a live beam-in from a special guest? There’s only one way to find out!
