Los Angeles based animation studio Fantoons released details on what they will be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con next week.
Their first ever Comic-Con panel will see their founder talk about how Fantoons came to be, as well as what they have in the works.
In addition at their booth in the Small Press area (O7), attendees can pick up new merchandise to celebrate the partnership between Fantoons and Ninja Sex Party. There will be exclusive Ninja Sex Party items available including buttons for $5, t-shirts for $25, and limited edition art prints for $50.

Fantoons Presents: From Fan to Working With the Band

David Calcano is the founder of Fantoons, an animation studio and publisher of comics and art books dedicated to music. They have worked with bands such as Rush, Motörhead, Frank Zappa, Ninja Sex Party, and Rob Zombie, and they have many more collaborations in the works. A love of music, art, and comics has grown into a dream come true, leading to work with rock royalty on books, animation, live performances, and so much more. Moderator Ryan J. Downey and Calcano will take a look back at an inspiring journey to where Fantoons is today, alongside exclusive news about upcoming projects in books and animation.
Attendees will get the first news on the new publishing partnership with YouTube sensations Ninja Sex Party, including an exclusive message from the band themselves! To celebrate, Fantoons will have exclusive Ninja Sex Party merch available at their table in the exhibit hall while supplies last! About the Panelists:
David Calcano is the creative director of Fantoons, an animation studio based in Los Angeles. David was born in Caracas, Venezuela and has been watching cartoons ever since he was inside his mom’s belly. As an adult, he moved to the UK where he worked as a systems engineer until he dropped his career many years ago, to pursue his true dream: to build an animation studio, create cartoons and publish books that combine music and creative art. Calcano has worked with some of the best companies and artists around the world, including Disney, Rush, Frank Zappa, Steve Martin, Poison, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Mr. Big, Universal Music, and Anthem, among many others!
Ryan J. Downey has worked as reporter, writer, editor, and producer for a wide range of outlets including MTV, VH1, MSNBC, The Recording Academy, Marvel, and Lionsgate. He is the host of the MI Conversation Series at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where his guests have included Brendon Urie, Ace Frehley, and Tony Iommi, as well as the following podcasts: PopCurse, No-Prize From God, and Speak N’ Destroy, which cracked the Top 20 in Apple Podcasts Music category. He’s covered SDCC since 2002.
