This year has been a quite busy one in terms of going to conventions for me, but once again I end the year with one of my favorite ones…DesignerCon in Anaheim. The annual show that showcases many different types of art including toys, apparel, custom collectibles, and standard art is one I’ve described before as “artist alley on steroids”.
This year’s show (the final one in Anaheim before they head to Las Vegas for 2024) lived up to my description as they showcased the type of art that got me hooked on the show back in 2015 when it was still in Pasadena.
Some of the highlights for me include the Hollywood 100 art show which featured art from 100 different artists, each of whom customized a model Hollywood sign for its 100th anniversary, the wide variety of custom designed toys (I grabbed a few for friends), and talking to some creators who I see every year at the show.
As I said above this is the last year DesignerCon will be in Anaheim as next year they move to The Expo at World Market Center in Las Vegas. The dates for next year’s show will November 15-17, and I for one can’t wait to see what all they have planned for the inaugural show there!
