Dragon Con 2025 was easily the best Dragon Con yet after 4 years of attending, and one of the first things to make my con experience so awesome was getting to talk to Catie Osborn, AKA Catieosaurus! I had been following her tabletop roleplaying game, neurodivergence, and history content on TikTok for quite some time, so I was super excited to see the notification that she had accepted my interview request.
We covered a ton of ground in our interview, and I even came away with some new TTRPG recommendations! Read on to see some highlights from our interview.
F**k a Content Niche
To set a bit of a foundation for the interview, I started by talking with Catie a bit about the breadth of content that she covers. You can find everything from the aforementioned TTRPG videos (my main point of entry) to content where she discusses historical perspectives on the current political climate and even secondhand furniture finds. With all that in mind, I figured framing the question around common adages that encourage people to focus on a content niche would be a good approach. Much to my enjoyment, she had an exasperated but lovely perspective on the matter.
“I am large, I contain multitudes.” – Walt Whitman
I resonated so strongly with this, as I have found myself lost for direction when something that once fascinated me was overshadowed by a new hyperfixation. We, all of us, are not any one thing, and we shouldn’t feel as though we are wrong or misguided to pursue our joy if it’s new, different, or deviates from something that others know and love about us.
Dragon Con is Best Con
Next, we talked about how Dragon Con is the best Con. I have a lot of love in my heart for San Diego Comic-Con and went for 10 years in a row, but I’ve found a new love in Dragon Con and would easily pick DC over SDCC, even if travel and board to San Diego for the weekend were not a consideration.
Much like us, Dragon Con is not any one thing, and lots of people find so many things to love and grow into traditions and sometimes even into cults!
Fan Question: Secondhand Furniture Finds
Knowing that I was going to talk to Catie beforehand, I went to TikTok and posted a video letting my followers know about the interview and seeing if anyone had a fan question I could pose during the interview. Anna from Washington had a great question for Catie.
There was plenty more that we covered in the full interview, which you can listen to here. And oh! For TTRPG recommendations, she listed For the Queen, I’m Sorry Did You Say Street Magic, Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast, Honey & Hot Wax, and Cosmic Century Knights. I feel like I’ve been researching TTRPGs pretty heavily the last few months and somehow had not heard of a single one of these – so many new systems to try!
Thank you for your time Catie! It was truly one of the highlights of my Dragon Con weekend to sit down with you and nerd out about such a breadth of topics near and dear to me.
