This year Summer Con is bringing out the big guns for the event and is jammed pack with celebrity guests. I saw that there is going to be a big group of cast members from Daredevil, Scream, and many more in attendance. You can tell by the line up of guests that this year is more focused on popular shows and movies, over anime (last year anime was the big drawl).
My favorite part of all the Summer Con’s I have attended so far (this will be my third) is the outside area. There is a small half shaded half grassy area that cosplayers normally group up at to take photos and eat. It’s always very nice there and a way to get out of the sun (it’s normally blazing hot at this convention), and I’m excited to meet with friends and take some fun photos. There is also bound to be some great vendors to shop at this year as well, I always get some really good merch and art at this convention. It’s great that the convention makes sure to give a chance to smaller vendors and new vendors, while also being able to accommodate vendors from previous years (they have a pretty big space and three big buildings to work with).
There’s also going to be something a bit different this year at con, my dad will be attending with me for the one day I’m checking it out. He wants to meet with one of the celebrity guests, Jon Bernthal, (my dad is a big fan of from the movie The Accountant and many others including the tv show, The Punisher). I think this will be pretty exciting since my dad used to be the person who took me to conventions when I was too young to go by myself, and I’m also a big fan of Jon Bernthal (this will be half father’s day gift, half treat to myself).
If you have nothing to do this holiday weekend come check out Washington State Summer Con, June 20-22 at the Puyallup Fairgrounds and have some fun meeting celebrities, shopping and having some not so healthy for you fair food!
