We are finally hitting warmer weather here in Washington and that means it’s time for Washington State Summer Con! Starting in just one more day, the incredibly hot event will be taking place! Hot because of the insane list of star studded guests, and obviously the actual heat (we are just not used to it, and it’s hot in cosplay).
I know some of the guests that I am most looking forward to, since seeing their announcements were the One Piece cast (mostly Straw Hats) and the cast of the hit YouTube show, Helluva Boss (don’t worry, that article is coming too). I’m also really happy to know that Charlie Hunnam will be there…I may have a slight crush on him since seeing a few of the amazing productions he was in (cough, The Gentlemen, cough), and I’m just saying…That man is gorgeous.
Anyway, I think I would have to say that out of all the guests, vendors, well known cosplayers in the area (and my friends), I’d have to say I’m the most excited for the boba food truck! Hahaha! I know not the choice many would be making at this moment, but boba is going to help me have energy and look a little fed. I’m just kidding (but not really), I’m super stoked about the Helluva Boss cast. I just fell in love with the series and have been putting off watching the newest episode because I want to binge a whole bunch (and no cliffhangers!) before the con so I can be caught up!
This is the 3rd year for this con, and the first time that it will start hosting three days! I really wish I could have gotten time off work to go on Friday, but sadly not. Though I’m getting over to the convention bright and early on Saturday to get a full day in, and spend time with friends. Also, super excited that pretty much all the cosplayers I know will be cosplaying One Piece! This is one of the first times I have ever seen so many of the cast at one event! I would love to get a poster signed by all the straw hats, but I would cry and die if I got anything (and I mean anything) signed by the English voice actor for Uta (from One Piece Film: Red). She is my favorite One Piece girl, and I have way too many figures of her (and still, not enough).
From the guest list alone, the weekend is looking like a great time! The convention has also upped their game this year, the website is super easy to use and all the prices for photo ops and autographs are listed for just about everyone! This is always super helpful before a convention so that attendees can make plans and figure out their schedule and budget. I was just flipping through all the guests and have made a plan for who I am dying to see the most and would love to get a signature from. Other then a few of these, hitting up the food trucks (and the boba truck, can’t forget that for a even a minute), I’m only planning on picking up a few things for myself and friends from the vendors hall (all of it being GamerSupps, who I believe will be there). This of course is not counting if I see anything that is just too good to pass up, cause we all know how it is in the artists alley, no one’s getting out of there without an armful of new goodies.
If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, or wanting to play hooky from work/school from on Friday, check out Washington State Summer Con being held at the Washington State Fair and Events Center (110 9th Ave SE Puyallup, WA) enter through the blue gate, which is also free parking.
