My first ever Dragon Con – and I’m so excited for it!

Oh boy, Dragon Con better watch out because I am so excited to be going to my first ever Dragon Con in a couple of weeks!

Never having been before, one of my close friends has been filling me in on all the fun she is planning for us to do there. Lots of parties planned and many days switching between cosplays.

This is the first time in months that I have been over the moon excited to be even thinking about cosplays. I have so many ideas, patterns bought and fabric on order! I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on everything once it comes in, so I can get to sewing right away!

I even finished a cosplay right before writing all of this, my long forgotten (which has been haunting me) Buggy the Clown cosplay. It’s finally done, but it will not be making an appearance at Dragon Con. I’m taking my friend’s advice and going for a very different kind of cosplay for this con… a bit more adult.

Nothing too bad or out of my comfort zone, but a bit more daring and challenging myself in what I wear and make for interpreting a character I like for cosplay. I’m also working on making some swimsuits for the first time ever for this convention, because there’s the Dragon Con’s Pin-Ups by the Pool Party event. I have about a thousand and one ideas for different cosplay swimsuits, but after bouncing around a few ideas with my friend. I have one and a beautiful mock up drawing of it. It also seems like I’ll be bringing more than five cosplays with me, since my friend wants to pair up on a few and of course for the events.

I am happy that I had almost two months from when I found out I was going, so I could prepare. I’ll be able to start working on the harder cosplays for Dragon Con sooner and finish them up when I’m back from my first ever San Diego Comic-Con.

There aren’t many guests that I’m excited for, for this convention. Hopefully there might be some more announced, because we all know I love some anime tie-ins. I’m just excited for the cosplay aspect of this con, getting a chance to play in the water and spending time with my friend. Below you can see some of the cosplay ideas I have.
