SD Who Con announces next special guest – October 4-6, San Diego

A few weeks the first guest for San Diego’s own convention for all things Whovian was announced. Today, the next guest for SD Who Con was announced via a press release.

Joining creator, producer, and writer of the “Doctor Puppet” Alisa Stern, will be actor Harry Van Gorkum.

While Van Gorkum’s name may not be familiar to everyone, the veteran actor has over 80 film and TV credits to his name including appearances in
Batman & Robin, Gone in Sixty Seconds, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, CSI, Seinfeld, and many more.

This years event takes place October 4th through the 6th, and will once again be at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel, and the guest list and announcements for the show will continue to be announced as we get closer to the show.

SAN DIEGO, CA – SD Who Con is excited to announce that actor Harry Van Gorkum will be a special guest at the 2019 “Who Dunnit?” con taking place October 4-6, 2019 at the Four Points Sheraton on Aero Drive in San Diego.

London-born, classically-trained Van Gorkum has appeared in several films including Batman & Robin (1997), Pink Pather 2 (2009), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), and Karate Kid (2010). He has an impressive career that spans stage theater, film, and television. Van Gorkum has appeared on several popular shows such as Austin and Ally, CSI, Friends, Jag, Just Shoot Me, Seinfeld, The Nanny, and Wizards of Waverly Place. Van Gorkum can be currently seen portraying “Alaric” in “The Mortal Instruments-City of Bones.”

Those familiar with Doctor Who may be aware that Van Gorkum was initially cast as the 8th Doctor, the role of which was eventually given to Paul McGann. He also lent his voice talents to the series, Torchwood: Web of Lies.

The SD Who Con started in 2016 as San Diego’s only Doctor Who fan-run convention. The three-day event features guests, cosplay contests, panels, and social activities. There will be a vender room featuring a wide variety of Doctor Who themed merchandise along with a charity auction to benefit the Pegasus Rising Project.

The Pegasus Rising Project is a small all-volunteer group that makes rescued horses available as therapy animals to returning U.S. military veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to help with healing and social reintegration.
