We’re all missing getting together: comic people more than most. For all the cliché of fans and creatives being rather the anti-social types, the audience of the various virtual comic conventions over the duration of lockdown – including the hugely successful Thought Bubble Digital event last year – has shown that the appetite for coming together to celebrate this art form that we love hasn’t diminished one iota.
Fingers crossed that global pandemic is, if not behind us, more under control and on the way to being a distant memory, sooner rather than later. Of course, the hope is that one day we can all see each other at shows and the organisers of said Thought Bubble Festival are making every step to make their planned show for November 2021 quite the draw with a truly stellar special guest line-up, the first initial names announced today.
While the show has always done its utmost to celebrate homegrown talent, it’s the international contingent that makes up the lion’s share here with returning names such as Scott Snyder, David Aja, Becky Cloonan and Babs Tarr joining fresh faces such as writers Cecil Castellucci, Chuck Palahniuk and Marc Bernardin, and artists Sanford Greene, Rafael Albuquerque, G. Willow Wilson and Emma Rios. This first salvo is really bloody impressive and the TBF team are no doubt hoping that this is the kind of guest list that will entice an audience back into the Harrogate Convention Centre, post-pandemic.
The full list of announced names for the Festival so far can be found on the official TBF website and there’s no doubt many more superstar names to follow. We’ll keep our eyes open and our ears to the ground as our coverage of this years show rolls out, heading towards November.
Tickets for the Festival are now on sale, HERE, and you can keep up to date with the TBF social media on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as checking out all of the online video content from Thought Bubble Digital on their YouTube channel.
