One of the largest live video streaming services is Twitch, and for the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19 their convention will take place. Twitch primarily focuses on video game live streaming (including eSports tournaments) but also has expanded into streams for cosplayers, musicians, artists, and other types of creative endeavors.
When the con returns to the San Diego Convention Center (where it was planned to be in 2020) they will be bringing many panels on various topics from video game streaming, to tabletop games (for instance Learn to Play: Magic: The Gathering), to meetups w/ other streamers, to various panels that are targeted to help streamers grow (like Analytics & Tools to Help You Grow, and Building Interactive Experiences with the Latest TwitchDev Technology). Oh, and I can’t forget the cosplayers, there are some great ones, and they will face off in the Cosplay Contest Presented by Crown Channel on the Saturday of the show!
TwitchCon will have something for everyone who has used the platform for streaming, or just to watch and chat with the streamers. Oh and one of my favorite parts of the show is the Artist Alley section which lets the artists show off their creations, and gives attendees the opportunity to purchase some of them.
All in all TwitchCon is a fun show and I can’t wait to see what all they bring this year. Oh, and check out the coverage from 2019 when they last had an in-person event.
