What Dan thought: After watching the trailer, I thought this would be a cookie cutter type romantic comedy. It starts off that way, but the comedic portions knocked it out of the park, especially the supporting cast. The main actors (Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page) handled the rom part of the rom-com quite well and definitely had chemistry, while the supporting cast nailed the comedy part quite well. The feral aunt played by Stella Pecollo and Lorenzo the cab driver played by Marco Calvani were the stand outs from a great comedic supporting cast.
The scenery deserves it’s own mention as a majority of the scenes were shot in Tuscany, and were breathtaking. The score from veteran composer John Debney was perfect without being over the top.
If you do go to see this movie, stay for the cut scenes towards the end as it seems they let some of the extras ad-lib, and those cut scenes were terrific.
Dan’s rating: 7.5 out of 10. If you want to get out of the heat (or just go see a funny 105 minute rom-com), this is definitely one to go check out.
Jodi’s rating: 8 out of 10. I really liked it. Very cute, great character/actor chemistry. Loved Lorenzo and his tiny coochie (cab).
You, Me & Tuscany is now in theaters.
