ADVENTURES OF THE NAKED UMBRELLA movie review – funny, wholesome, and irreverent

Director: Gerald Brunskill
Starring: Jeremy Davies, Tom Arnold, Taryn Manning, Richard Riehle, Darnell Rhea, and Cindy Vela
Movie Length: 1 hour 37 minutes

What it’s about: When a pyromaniac and conspiracy theorist becomes the primary suspect for a fire that destroys his own home he begins a traumatic and life altering journey of self discovery and faith. All while seeking out the truth and evidence to clear his name.

What Corey thought: I enjoyed this movie. It was funny, wholesome, and irreverent. The story keeps your attention with some great acting and some interesting theories about life, aliens, and God. It’s a very light hearted film with much more under the hood than the trailer implies. Jeremy Davies is fantastic in the lead role. He’s a very likable, kinda goofy, and weird dude but you can tell he’s been on the receiving end of a lot of bad luck since he was younger. He’s confused and tormented by his childhood memories. Crippled by a past that has left him emotionally scarred. Richard Riehle also steals the show as Grandma. He’s funny, old fashioned, and just batshit crazy! It’s a really fun role and he nails it. Overall this is a film that explores second chances, relationships, and mental health. It might even be classified as a Christmas movie for those looking for something just a little different than your usual holiday fare. The ending is a little sad but I think it was the right ending for this film. Even as a comedy there is a message about life and its frailties that resonates within the film. Check it out now On Demand!

My rating 8/10 – Great!!

Adventures of the Naked Umbrella is now available on VOD.
