Thanks to Dark Horse Comics for the review copy!

A new sci-fi action thriller from Dark Horse brought to us from the creative powerhouse team of Scott Snyder, Frank Tieri, and Ryan Smallman with an assist from A-list actor and first time collaborator Tom Hardy. When a soldier starts to believe the mission he is part of is wrong, he becomes the ultimate weapon for the resistance and wages war against his former allies.

We’ve got another banger here folks! This one is hot. With the creative team of Scott Snyder, Frank Tieri, and Tom freakin Hardy??!! How could it not? It’s a futuristic action packed adrenaline ride packed with epic battle action and some seriously unlawful carnage in the gore department. It’s a little bit of planetary conquering and race war mixed with some warranted revenge and cybernetic body horror. If this sounds like your thing you will definitely want to check this one out! The story is smoothly paced and the action sequences never let you down. This all unfolds before we get to the apparent revenge and justice served storyline that’s going to kick-off in the next issue. I wouldn’t expect anything less than the best from these creators and I’m excited to see where this one goes. I’d also love to hear just how much influence Hardy had on the characters. The ones we have been introduced to thus far are written pretty tough and militant. The whole battle scarred, grizzled, and experienced warrior archetype is present but the main protagonist in the book is also very smart, cunning, and empathetic. He believes in a higher good. He’s not about to do something he doesn’t believe is right. It adds a layer of perplexity and depth to the character and the story. It will be interesting to see how he is able to balance everything as we move forward into the next issue and what if any human element of him actually remains. There’s some good stuff here and I highly recommend checking this one out while it’s still on the shelf.

My rating – 9/10 Great!
