El Rey Comics unveil exclusive Peach Momoko sketch cover for Aftershock Comics MISKATONIC #1

One of the hottest cover artists out there right now is Peach Momoko (who recently signed an exclusive contract with Marvel), but before her contract kicks in she has a lot more cover art coming.

One of those covers is for AfterShock Comics‘ MISKATONIC #1 which was written by Mark Sable with interior art by Giorgio Pontrelli. But what makes the cover more sought after is it’s a store exclusive for San Diego’s own El Rey Comics.

El Rey Comics will be releasing three different versions of the “historical crime fiction and Lovecraftian-horror” title, a trade dress version, a virgin cover, and a sketch virgin cover.

The trade dress and virgin covers were originally part of a very successful Kickstarter campaign, but the sketch cover (which had a print run of 100) is available directly from El Rey’s website as pre-order for $40. They will also be offering a combo of all 3 covers starting on November 11th for $100 on their website.

El Rey is also offering a Miskatonic #1 Sketch Variant signed by Peach Momoko CGC Signature Series for $150, which when you think of the cost of sending a book to Japan, then having her send it back to the US for grading (not to mention the cost of grading) is a great price.

Official synopsis below courtesy of Diamond Comics/Aftershock Comics

Miskatonic Valley holds many mysteries – cultists worshipping old gods, a doctor deadset on resurrecting the recently deceased, a house overrun by rats in the walls – but none more recent than a series of bombings targeting the Valley’s elite.

These horrors reach a breaking point when the brilliant, hard-nosed investigator Miranda Keller is sent to stop the bombings. To J. Edgar Hoover, there can be no other explanation than those responsible for similar actions during the Red Scare of the 1920s…but when Miranda digs too deep, she uncovers an unimaginable occult conspiracy, one that may cost Miranda her job – and her sanity.

From writer Mark Sable (GODKILLERS, Graveyard of Empires) and artist Giorgio Pontrelli (Dylan Dog), MISKATONIC is a mix of historical crime fiction and Lovecraftian-horror that dives deep into the American nightmare.
