Writer Zac Thompson of The Dregs and I Breathed a Body with artist Valeria Burzo of Castle Full of Blackbirds adapt one of the worlds most storied and controversial books into comic format for the first time. When the Gorman family invites the largest scale scientific and paranormal investigation to their ranch everything that we thought we knew and believed about UFO’s, extraterrestrials, and the paranormal is turned upside down.

This was a fun read! Especially for those either not familiar with the source material of the book or never had a chance to read it. Thompson does a great job of making the story accessible to new readers while trying to retain as much of the source material as possible. It’s pretty straight forward to read and the art is a nice accompaniment to the story. There’s a lot of unhinged and outright creepy events that went down on this ranch!  It’s hard to wrap your mind around the thought that these things are based on a true story but it’s presented in such a way that makes it seem plausible and Thompson does a good job of maintaining that level of realism. If you are a fan of the paranormal or just interested in spooky books in general this might be the perfect comic to sit down with as fall approaches. As a fan of the original book and the documentary I’m really looking forward to issue two! Check it out today!
