One of the surprise titles that debuted last year has been Image Comics’ ICE CREAM MAN from writer W. Maxwell Prince, and now he’s back with a new title that readers that suffer from coulrophobia (fear of clowns) may want to avoid. The first issue of HAHA will also be released by Image Comics, and will feature interior art by Vanesa R. Del Rey. Future issues will feature interior art by such names as Gabriel Walta, Roger Langridge, and more.
El Rey Comics has their own retailer version of the cover which features Casey Parsons‘ artwork. Previously a trade dress version featuring Casey’s art was released, but now El Rey is releasing a virgin version (no trade dress/words on the cover) as an exclusive retailer version.
This version has a print run of 300, and will cost $24.99 (includes a certificate of authenticity), but if you’re like some collectors and would like the cover signed with a remarque added to the cover, that can be done for $199.99 which includes CGC’s grading fees and fast track service. Both versions are now available for pre-order, with the issue set for release on January 13th, 2021.
Synopsis of the issue is below courtesy of Diamond Comics and Image Comics.
ICE CREAM MAN writer W. MAXWELL PRINCE brings his signature style of one-shot storytelling to the world of clowns-and he’s invited SOME OF THE COMIC INDUSTRY’S BEST ARTISTS to join him for the ride.
HAHA is a genre-jumping, throat-lumping look at the sad, scary, hilarious life of those who get paid to play the fool-but these ain’t your typical jokers.
With issues drawn by VANESA DEL REY (REDLANDS), GABRIEL WALTA (Vision), ROGER LANGRIDGE (Thor), and more, HAHA peeks under the big top, over the rainbow, and even inside a balloon to tell a wide-ranging slew of stories about “funny” men and women, proving that some things are so sad you just have to laugh.
