In all honesty, I am not caught up with the second half of Rat Queens Although, I am on this new arc but I’ve just started it. But, I love these girls and I will catch up. Though, in the meantime I’m going to review the hell out of this issue.
We start off in the heart of the action, with Hannah going full force about everything they are going to do to Gary (who is the worst and the villain, shocking). Although, the rest of the Queens think Hannah took it way too far with her description of peeing on Gary’s bones every time she has to go, and a nice plaque that states “Here lies Gary, the biggest asshole in any land”. I for one, did not think she went too far. I might have been one of the few cheering her on. Maddie is the newest member (at least to me), and she looks a lot like the member who was there before…
As soon as the real fighting starts, we can tell Betty isn’t right. She’s not really fighting or enjoying the blood-lust as she normally would. Then comes Gary’s secret weapon, Professor Corneluis Fudgebottom III, a giant dog with a helmet comes out to fight the girls who Maddie tries to attack. But, everyone thinks she’s a monster to even try and fight such a cute dog (but, seriously. It’s not that cute). Of course, none of this ends well. Gary comes out in an open robe as well as a male thong to go along with his look, to kick her out of the way and have her thrown into some ditch.
Not the proudest moment for the Rat Queens or Maddie. Not long after this the remaining four queens are put on trial, standing above a not so pleasant acid bath. The only people to come to our girl’s defense were three males, but they are being held as prisoners, and their testimony was not taken into consideration (but with Gary as the judge, only shit will get through).
All of the allegations and testimony leveled against the girls is dumb and would never normally stick. But, as I said before Gary only lets shit through. The girls are given one chance to speak, Hannah kind of blows it by telling the truth that she wouldn’t even fuck Gary if she was a headless, legless, armless potato being (endless laughter on my part). This pretty much seals the deal for the girls, and they are dropped into the waiting acid bath below them. It’s kind of traumatic seeing your favorite heroes (yes, I do know that they weren’t always all that good at being heroes. But, I like them), turn into nothing but bones. Gary apparently gets the last laugh by stringing them up in the town square, but Maddie drags herself from the ditch and ends up killing some of Gary’s men. She also goes for Gary but his lighting (? I mean where was this earlier?) hands get her.
Um, so what’s supposed to happen now? How are our girls going to come back from well, bones?! Is Maddie going to kill Gary? Or will we be seeing a whole new team of Rat Queens? Guess I’ll have to read the next issue to find out!
