Thanks to Oni Press for providing a copy of Rick and Morty Presents for review!
In true Rick and Morty fashion, this graphic novel does not pull any punches. Jerry has some issues to deal with in his marriage, and as he tries to iron them out things get real ugly real fast. Any fan of the show knows that Jerry has trouble with self-confidence, and this story arc addresses that primarily through body image. Jerry has gained a bit of weight, and Rick is nice enough to try to help him feel better about himself with science. What could go wrong!?
Spoiler alert, everything goes wrong.
This book makes some big statements about toxic masculinity and how it turns people inside out. The primary focus is on Jerry for sure, and his struggles are never overshadowed by Rick’s enormous personality. I think any fan of the show will enjoy the comics!
