October is quickly approaching and with it is finally a good anime Fall season! This current season of anime we have been slugging through has been one of the worst with nothing really happening, the only thing we had was My Hero Academia (which is in its war arc right now). The community has been chomping at the bit for a new series of anime to drop and we finally have it for the spooky season!
I have been hyped since learning that Ranma 1/2 is coming back, I watched this anime a million years ago and am loving that the animation is getting a revamp! Brought to you by the creator of Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2 follows Ranma, a martial artist who is dealing with a bit of a transformation problem…due to falling into a spring where a girl once died, Ranma now changes into a girl whenever he’s hit with cold water and back to a boy when hit with warm water. He’s also supposed to be getting along with his family friend’s daughter, who he’s supposed to marry and that he and his dad (who’s now a panda after falling into the panda spring) are staying with. Follow along as the cast expands with even more characters that have unfortunately fallen into other springs and are dealing with their own transformations as well.
The original anime is a classic and I was always giggling while watching it, and even went on a hunt to gather all the original manga in its first printing format. Just from watching the trailer, I was in love all over again. The new style looks super fun and I’m just loving all the new neon and bright colors! I will be tuning into Netflix on October 1st as soon as it’s out.
There are two other anime’s that are brand new and are causing a lot of excitement as well, Dan Da Dan and Yakuza Fiance. Dan Da Dan has one of the best trailers that I have ever seen, full of great animation, music, transformations of characters, and intrigue. It is second on my list of anime that I am most excited for, if not for Ranma 1/2 it would be my top one. I’m also currently reading this manga on the Shonen Jump app for a bit of a jump start. I’m only a chapter or so into the series, so I can’t tell you much of what it’s about. From the basic description of the series on the app, “When a boy into UFO’s collides with a girl into ghosts, the universe will never be the same!”. I’m excited to find out what the hell that summary means and how it will be a good anime plot (with the added bonus that it premieres on my birthday, October 3rd).
Yakuza Fiance is another adult manga series that has been adapted into anime, this is one that looks better than I thought it would be. What I mean by this is that I’ve taken a look at the manga a time or two (only volume one) and was never moved to fully dive in. But seeing stills from the anime trailer has me far more interested and I’m going to try and give the manga another try. Yakuza Fiance is about Yoshino who is offered by her grandfather (head of one of the largest crime families) as a peace offering (marriage) to another crime family’s grandson, Kirishima. Only problem is…Kirishima is an extreme sadomasochist and Yoshino is gonna have to up her game of dominance to play along. Quite the intriguing summary wouldn’t you say?
Lastly, we have the return of Blue Lock Season two! A highly anticipated anime series, and one that many are excited to see what happens next. I, myself, am happy to see it back in the anime lineup and am ready to see how the story progresses. I’ve held off on reading ahead in the manga because I’ve been enjoying the animation way more.
As I said before, this is going to be a great fall season of anime after this non-existent spring season of anime. Starting October 1st, tune in to Netflix and Crunchyroll to catch these new anime series!
