This might hurt… but did you realise that we have had all of the Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe to date before we’ve even had a title for the next MARVEL’S AVENGERS movie?? And this might sting even further: we’re hearing word that we may not event be getting a trailer for the box office-straddling sequel before the end of the year! Yipes!
Yes, we’re fully aware of the Kevin Feige quote that we would be seeing our first glimpse of the aftermath of Thanos’ party trick with the Glowing Marrigold Of Destiny ‘by the end of the year’, and we’ve also heard those same rumours that you have that we would get that much desired trailer as part of this weekend’s Black Friday shenanigans.
However, it’s sounding like we all may have to wait just that little bit longer, as MCU Cosmic head honcho Jeremy Conrad has been reporting that the trailer will not be dropping this weekend – instead, we may have to wait until the 29th November, a day after a special Q&A screening of MARVEL’S AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR takes place at the Cinerama Dome in the ArcLight Hollywood cinema in Hollywood with the directors Joe and Anthony Russo in attendance.
Conrad writes, “The bad news is those rumors are false, as I’ve seen confirmation now that there will not be a trailer released for Avengers 4 this coming Friday. That doesn’t mean we won’t see one this month, as the first teaser for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR was released last November on the 29th, but it won’t be on Black Friday or around Thanksgiving this week.”
Now, who is Conrad to talk, and why should we put so much stock in what he’s saying? Well, he’s been doing this a while, he’s got the contacts inside the Hollywood machine and he’s been on the money so far. C’est la vie.
So, what shall we do in the meantime, while we twiddle our thumbs? How about we go down the line and rewatch those aforementioned and bloody funny HONEST TRAILERS that everyone loves so much? Fair play to the Screen Junkies gang, they too had been pretty much on the mark with their appraisals of the franchise, even getting some of the filmmakers involved with their aftershow bonus Commentaries (such as the Russo Brothers and Peyton Reed) – here, we revisit the whole damn she-bang, going through all twenty films over the past ten years, and savour every last dig at just how ineffectual Hawkeye is…
