Two weekends ago (September 14-15) at the Scottish Rite Center in San Diego, FangaeaCon returned for their 2nd show.
The show is “a multi-faceted, action-packed, fandom event that will feature Tabletop and Video Games, Anime, Steam Punk, Cosplay, Technology, Fun Panels, Model Building and so much more! Fangaea is Where Fandoms Join Forces for Fun!” per their website, and it accomplishes all that.
Some of my highlights from the show including watching the Lightsaber Combat Training. The training by Rebecca and Matthew Eusey let attendees practice light saber combat with some heavy duty light sabers.
The Sci Fi 1979 hosted by our friends at the Science Fiction Coalition was a discussion of some movies and television shows that were released in 1979 including Alien, Star Trek The Motion Picture, Buck Rogers, and more.
The vendor floor and artist alley had quite a few vendors selling items such as action figures, Funko items, comic books, artwork, and more. There was also a full sized Steampunk X-Wing, which was something beautiful to see up close.
I also picked up a sketch of Skull Thumper from Jeprox (who works for DC Comics as a Digital Production Artist).
All in all, it was a nice local show for me with some good programming and good guests.
Can’t wait to see what they have planned for next year!
