Coming in a few weeks to the Westfield Mall Culver City will be the first ever female themed pop-up comic convention in the Los Angeles area.
SheroCon 2019 will begin at 12pm on March 9th, right in the middle of Women’s History Month (as well as a day after Marvel’s first female led movie CAPTAIN MARVEL hits theaters in the USA).
Not many guests have been confirmed yet, but one that is Hollywood stuntwoman Janeshia Adams-Ginyard whose long list of acting credits include BLACK PANTHER where she was a member of the Dora Milaje as well as Danai Gurira’s stunt double, and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR where she also handled stunt double work for Gurira.

Local Sheroes Come Together, During Women’s History Month, For Shero Comic’s Inaugural Pop-up Comic Con SheroCon 2019
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 18, 2019) – This Women’s History Month, Marvel’s Captain Marvel won’t be the only Shero making history. Local comic creator and Shero Comics CEO, Shequeta L. Smith has partnered up with Westfield Mall Culver City to host what will be Los Angeles’ first ever female-themed pop-up comic-con, SheroCon.
Hollywood Stuntwoman Janeshia Adams-Ginyard (Black Panther), is one amongst multiples heroes to appear at Shero Comic’s inaugural pop-up comic-con. This mini-con, is set for Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 12pm-5pm at the Westfield Mall Culver City.
SheroCon is a one-day celebration of female comic creators, cosplayers and local Sheroes who are making a difference in the world of comics and entertainment. Other activities scheduled for the day include an all-female artist alley featuring indie and mainstream comic creators, a women in comics panel discussion, one -and- one Q&A ’s with Hollywood actresses, costumers , composers, executives and makeup artists from some of Hollywood’s biggest comic book movies.
The event is scheduled to end with a SheroCon Cosplay competition which will be judged by actual Hollywood Costumers. But it’s more than just about Shero encounters. There will also be face painting , caricatures and makeovers from professional makeup artists.
The SheroCon pop-up con is the first of its kind in Los Angeles and is the brainchild of Shero Comic’s CEO, Shequeta Smith. Smith, who was recently featured in InStyle Magazine, is also the author of the bestselling graphic novel series, Rayven Choi. Explaining the motivation for hosting the event Smith said: “I began searching for local events that Shero Comics could partner with to celebrate the work that women have contributed to the world of comics. I was especially looking since Marvel Studios will be releasing their first female-led film, Captain Marvel, in March. After a few weeks of coming up empty handed, the idea for SheroCon was born.”
