Happy new year guys! This weekend is the official start of my year of new adventures, which is starting out with Fan Expo Portland. This will be my first time attending this convention, and I am so excited! I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t been to this event before, the brand new cosplays I’ll be doing, or just the first con of the year…But I’m nervous. Plus stressing about how the weather is trying to tell me that it’s going to snow this weekend, I’ll pass on that please.
Anyway, there is so much about Fan Expo to be excited for, first and foremost being seeing convention friends! Yay! My friends already have so much planned for us to do, and I’m bursting at the seams to be around all the fandom talk again. I miss it. I also love meeting up with friends and getting to know new people to talk shop. I have so many ideas and plans for some content creation this year, along with so many new cosplays…
I am also over the moon to hear that Jon Bernthal will be there (screaming all day every day till con and not stopping even then). If you don’t recognize the name right away, it’s the name of THE PUNISHER from Marvel’s tv show that used to be on Netflix (but now on Disney). I love this show to say the least, and I really hope we get to see more of it one day with Bernthal reprising his role. His character, Frank Castle is one of my all time favorites (I’ve also read an insane amount of fanfiction about his character) and I’m a huge fan of the actor himself. So yes, I will be trying my butt off to meet him for a photo opt or at his table. They will also be having Charlie Cox (Daredevil), who I would love to meet too (but if I have to choose it will be Jon Bernthal).
The convention is also going to be having a slew of other amazing guests from Stranger Things, Star Wars, and so many different animes. Christopher Sabat, who is one of the most well known voice actors out there and has a hand in almost every big anime out there will be in attendance. He also voices Zoro from One Piece (ekk!), again to say that I am excited is an understatement. The last big celebrity I’m very excited about is Shameik Moore (the voice of Miles Morales from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse). I already know that my friends will be clamoring for me to grab their autographs for them from him, and I know I need one for myself too.
Sadly, I haven’t even had the chance to look up the panel list yet for the three days of con (which I’m going to need to since I’ll be helping out with a few for friends), but just another thing for me to look forward to this weekend! I promise as soon as I’m done writing this up I’ll be looking it up (or rewatching Spider-Verse, we’ll just have to wait and see).
