BARBARIC WRONG KIND OF RIGHTEOUS #1 review – Fun book much like all the rest set in this world (Eames, Moreci, Gooden, Duke, Campbell) Vault Comics

Writers: Nicholas Eames, Michael Moreci
Artist: Nathan Gooden
Colorist: Addison Duke
Letterer: Jim Campbell

Thanks to Vault Comics for the review copy!

A double-sized one-shot tale from Vault set in the Barbaric Universe and introducing a new talking weapon, Flail! Currently in the possession of an evil paladin, our reluctant hero Owen must drop his beer and skip dinner to free Flail from its captor and holder.

This was a fun book much like all the rest set in this world. They are funny, witty, and loaded with classic barbarian thrills and action. I also love the sense of humor and wit Moreci brings to the table with these books and with the addition of Eames they were able to come up with a pretty good new weapon origin story. I also love how different Flail is from Axe personality wise. It adds a nice contrast to the tone of the story and further extends the world in a way that really adds a lot of other possibilities when it comes to additional one off stories or characters. The art is great and there is plenty of gore and bloodshed to be had along the way. It’s bright, colorful, and loaded with detail. I’ve really come to enjoy these stories as a light break from your traditional barbarian stories and their often serious and rigid tone. These books are just a lot more fun and give a much needed boost to an old and tired genre. They clearly have the formula for success down and I look forward to reading whatever comes out next in the world of Barbaric.

My rating – 9/10 Great!
