In exciting news DC announced today they would be doing a 3 part “The Joker Year One” storyline which will be featured in the upcoming main Batman comic series starting with issue #142 on February 6th 2024 and culminating in climatic fashion on February 20th.
This 3 part story in the vein of DC’s already classic other “Year One” stories will be helmed by superstar Batman writer Chip Zdarsky with art from with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi, Andrea Sorrentino, Alejandro Sánchez, and Dave Stewart.
“Year One” stories are generally one shots or arcs defining a character’s origin story in a definitive way or during their first year in continuity. Hence the title. Many characters have been given the treatment over the years including obviously Batman, Superman, Wonder-Woman, Robin, Flash, Batgirl, Nightwing, Two-Face and most recently The Riddler among others. Seeing The Joker, Batman’s arch nemesis, finally getting this treatment is an exciting announcement by DC that will be welcomed by fans and newcomers worldwide!

Next, in Batman #143, the terrifying tale of “The Joker Year One” continues as a mysterious figure from Batman’s past has come into Joker’s orbit, changing the Clown Prince of Crime forever! And what secrets does the re-formed Red Hood Gang have for Batman’s future?
