It’s the season for Kickstartin’! There are some incredible comics projects currently being launched on the crowdfunding platform, vying for your hard-earned before the wallet-crunching reality of Christmas kicks in, one of which has caught our Editor-In-Chief Dan Berry’s eye, being a San Diego lad and a fervent supporter of America’s Finest City’s own Fun Time Go! publishing house.
Fun Time Go! – fun to say, as much fun to type, I’ve got a grin all over my face – taps into the perhaps-not-so-fun but equally thrilling gothic world of fantasy and vampires with new project, THE LEGEND OF THE GOLDEN JAGUAR, the latest instalment from founder David Hedgecock‘s MISS MINA AND THE MIDNIGHT GUARDIANS saga.
The story not only continues and expands on Hedgecock’s sprawling and ambitious universe, calling on some truly jaw-dropping talent on art duties – VAMPIRELLA‘s Xong Brothers flex their well-trained gothic muscles on lead art, while superstar artists Ludo Lullabi (TRANSFORMERS), Chuma Hill (ABSOLUTE CATWOMAN), and Tony Harris (EX_MACHINA) provide outstanding cover art – but even the new backup story from Jonathan Maberry and Omar Lozano promises to breathe additional and fresh life into the lore. Mixing manga-influenced artwork, vibrant color, a dash of steampunk, and a bite of Hammer Films horror, MISS MINA AND THE MIDNIGHT GUARDIANS is now live for crowdfunding on Kickstarter.
MISS MINA AND THE MIDNIGHT GUARDIANS: THE LEGEND OF THE GOLDEN JAGUAR features a superstar collection of creators, both within its pages and as contributors for the coveted Kickstarter rewards. The Xong Brothers (Vampirella) provide the gorgeous art on the lead story, while Osvaldo “Montos” Montpeller (Green Arrow) and David Garcia Cruz (Transformers) illustrate a back-up story.
