The Forever Home is a new six-issue post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller from Oni Press. Billionaire scientist, Henry D’mour failed to save the world from the apocalypse. Instead, he built a luxurious high-tech building, called “The Forever Home” to protect his family. He has a wife, two children, and a dog named Dodo.
Here’s the twist: for every 20 minutes that pass inside the house, one year passes outside the house. The family is essentially waiting out the end of the world, while they have robots and automated systems that care for and protect them. In issue #1, things go off the rails, when one of the children accidentally breaches the home’s protective barrier leaving Henry and his family in a very difficult predicament.
The creative team behind The Forever Home includes a strong pairing of two experienced, visually distinctive creators. Christian Ward (Batman: City of Madness, Blood Stained Teeth, Invisible Kingdom, Event Horizon: Dark Descent) is the series writer. The interior art by Sami Kivelä (Abbott and Machine Gun Wizards) brings the visuals to this post-apocalyptic world.
This book also has some amazing covers. Along with being a prolific writer, Ward is known for his highly stylized, psychedelic, cosmic artwork. Ward contributes Cover A;painting a picture of the home and teasing bad things happening under the surface. Alternative cover B is by Frany and cover C is from interior artist, Kivela. There is also a foil variant available of Christian Ward’s cover. The retailer incentives include a full art variant of Frany’s cover (1:10) and covers by David Rubin (1:20) and Miguel Mercado (1:50).
