Wow! What can I say? Zack Kaplan has been officially slaying the comic book world lately as he continues to assault us with masterfully told science fiction and balls to the wall action thrillers. He’s crafted another killer here in Kill All Immortals. It’s a gleefully gory and action fueled romp right from the first few pages. Right out of the gate you’re thrown into a wild showdown at a private estate with relentless battle Ax-tion (Axe+Action, see what I did there??) and tension!! The action takes a brief pause to further outline the narrative and then comes back full throttle and doesn’t let up until the banger twist at the end of the issue. It’s gloriously detailed and rich with colors too! Ossio and Rocha absolutely knock the art and colors out of the roof in this issue. The whole issue plays out in your mind just like a movie would. Elhaou’s tightly framed lettering blends smoothly into each panel for seamless reading and viewing pleasure. The whole package is sublime! We’re witnessing some of the best creators at the top of their game here! The book at times reminded me a little of The Old Guard but brings its own unique flair and themes along for the ride. If you were a fan of that book you will love this! Overall, It’s a very rich and deeply mythical story blended with Viking history and lore. It’s wonderfully paced, perfectly written, gorgeously drawn and you’d be hard pressed to find a more exhilarating offer on the stands right now! I can’t wait to read the next issue.
