Thanks to Dark Horse and Zack Kaplan for the review copy!

The third issue in the wild fantasy thriller from acclaimed writer Zack Kaplan and team. In this frantic and tense issue Frey looks to recover the whereabouts of the family shaman so she can get the information she needs to put her plan in motion. She’s caught in a trap surrounded by her family and its men. We also learn the potential source of the family’s immortality in a cliffhanger that will leave you drooling for issue #4….

Damn! Full speed ahead here folks! If you are a fan of big bloody fights with guns, axes, and chain whips you certainly know by now that Kaplan has you covered! There’s some interesting back-story and lore to start the third issue but then you are thrown right into a good old battle royale right in the middle of a club. If you are a fan of the opening scene in Blade or the shit-show free for all that went down in the Titty Twister in Dusk till Dawn you’ll love what Zach has in store for you over the 9-10 pages in this issue all dedicated to this big bad showdown. Minus the Vampires! However, given they are all mostly immortal and living as gods amongst the humans maybe they really aren’t so far off? Then as the action finally winds down we are hit with a bit of a cliffhanger and reveal to end the issue that explains some things but brings up so many new questions and possible storylines for future issues.

Anyways, like issues #1 and #2, the action is gorgeously drawn and rendered over these pages and it all plays out like a movie right in your head. Speaking of, I’d be shocked if this series wasn’t optioned down the road. It would be awesome on the big screen! Such a great creative team at work here right down to the lettering too. They have done a meticulous job through three issues and I’m already salivating for issue #4!

P.S. Frey Asvald might just be one of the coolest heroines in comics right now!

My rating 9/10 Awesome!!
