LESTER OF THE LESSER GODS #1 review – If you are looking for something fresh and funny this might soothe your soul (Powell, Yates, Kendall) Dark Horse Comics

Writers: Eric Powell and Lucky Yates
Artist/Colorist/Letterer: Gideon Kendall
Editor: Katii O’Brien
Assistant Editor: Misha Gehr
Designer: Patrick Satterfield
Digital Art Technician: Ann Gray

Thanks to Dark Horse Comics for the review copy!

A comedy horror adventure of epic proportions brought to you by the superstar creative team of Eric Powell (The Goon) and comedian/voice actor Lucky Yates (Archer). When the less than stellar son of Odin wants to be a hero things are going to get a little crazy! That’s putting it lightly!

I really enjoyed the first issue of this new mini-series. So much so that I even went on eBay and ordered the one-shot from Albatross that came out prior and that I was unaware of. I’m eagerly waiting for that to come in the mail now. It’s just one of those series that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is all the better for it. It’s also the perfect style for Eric Powell and Lucky Yates as this book was clearly created to make you chuckle. I must have laughed out loud at least a dozen times and I kept re-reading all the pages to pick up on every little reference or joke. It gets right out of the gate with a hilarious breaking of the fourth wall that really sets the tone for what you should expect. It’s super witty, really fun and somehow it all works as a story too! Gideon Kendall really knocks it out of the park as well pulling triple duty on the pencils, colors, and lettering! It’s just as fun to look at as it is to read. The really creative team really knocked this one out of the park and if you are looking for something fresh and funny this might soothe your soul. It certainly made my day! I can’t wait for the one shot to come in the mail while I wait for issue #2.

My Rating: 10/10 Superb!
