MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING review – Great way to end the M:I series

Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Starring: Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett
Movie Length: 2 hours 50 minutes

What is it: The final chapter in the saga of IMF Agent Ethan Hunt, this movie is the direct sequel to 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

What Dan thought: As I said when I reviewed Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, whether you like or dislike Tom Cruise, this movie also delivers on all fronts. Once again Tom Cruise and the stunt team go all out with the action scenes including one that saw Cruise hanging upside down the air from a biplane.

The movie itself while running just under 3 hours moves at a very good pace thanks to the action scenes (including one that was very intense and dialogue free and featured only Cruise).

Returning from the previous movie(s) in what may be the last hoorah for these roles are Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Haley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales all of which were outstanding in their roles. A few other actors who haven’t been seen in the M:I movies recently make their return as well including Angela Bassett as Erika Sloane, and Rolf Saxon as William Donloe (last seen in the very first M:I movie whose appearance ties back to that movie).

Also as one would expect from a Mission: Impossible movie the action, stunts, and fighting scenes thanks to Stunt Coordinator Wade Eastwood and Fight Coordinator Ruda Vrba were outstanding (but do you really expect less from a Tom Cruise action movie?!)

Dan’s grade: A. If you want a great summer blockbuster type movie that is filled with great action scenes, this is the movie you’ll want to see. Oh and if you have a chance, see it in IMAX or Dolby Cinema (I saw it in IMAX, and it was outstanding both for the picture and the surround sound setup).

Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning is now in theaters.
