This show is a whirlwind, like wow. I love puzzles and I had a lot of stray pieces from last week’s first episode. This week you can bet I got even more and quite a few that have filled most of the gaps left over from last week.
This week we are finding out more about who this Marc Spector is, who shares Steven’s body, and what the whole deal with the moon god, Khonshu. Along with the enemies we will be facing this season, some closer than we know.
There is almost way too much to unpack this week, but I want to focus on the moon god Khonshu and how he fits in with Steven and his alternative personality, Marc. But, to do this we have to figure out who the body belongs to. Is Steven the original personality born with the body? And Marc develops over time? Or was it the other way around. I would say this is the hardest part of the show for me by far, because after finding out more about Marc. I like him, just as much as I like Steven. It’s as if the two are twin brothers sharing the same body with how they act and react towards each other. As it stands and how I think it will all come to a conclusion is that there is no answer to that question for any of us, because it and Steven and Marc will continue to be a twisted knot that can never be unraveled no matter how hard one tries.
Anyway, Khonshu. This is not a nice god, he threatens and tricks others to be his avatar and do his bidding. Dealing out justice to those who have harmed and committed evil acts, while his counterpart, Ammit, who judges people before they have committed evil and stops them early. From hearing this you might think that there is a clear good or bad god on which side we should be rooting for. No, neither is a good choice from how they conduct themselves. The only side we need to be on is Steven and Marc’s since they have a lot of issues to work out together and just want to save people they care about.
In lighter topics that made this episode shine, Steven trash talking is one of my favorite things to listen to. Such sweet sweet music, and his idea of a superhero outfit or what he thinks the Moon Knight suit should be? Chef’s kiss! Absolutely amazing and will have you chuckling during the fighting bits, heck even the confusing ones too!
