The Marvel news for the week includes a partnership between Marvel and Riot Games, an announcement that some classic X-Men stories will be collected in trade paperback form, details on a special “Director’s Cut” of the upcoming UNCANNY X-MEN #1, and more.
Marvel and Riot Games announced on Monday that they will be teaming up to publish a LEAGUE OF LEGENDS inspired series of graphic novels.
The first one announced is LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: ASHE: WARMOTHER and will be released in May from writer Odin Austin Shafer, and artist Nina Vakueva.
Also on Monday, Marvel announced the first set of classic X-Men stories that will be collected in trade paperback form.
The first 3 story arcs announced are the Dark Phoenix Saga from Chris Claremont and John Byrne, Fall of the Mutants by Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Marc Silvestri, Bret Blevins, and Walter Simonson and lastly the Mutant Massacre story from Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, Walter Simonson, Ann Nocenti, John Romita Jr., Bret Blevins, Rick Leonardi, Alan Davis, Barry Windsor-Smith, Terry Shoemaker, Butch Guice, Sal Buscema, and Jon Bogdanove.
No release date was announced yet, but Marvel did say stay tuned for more info.
Marvel continued their X-Men related news with details on a “Director’s cut” version of Uncanny X-Men #1. The issue from writers Ed Brisson, Matthew Rosenberg and Kelly Thompson, and artists Mahmud Asrar, R.B. Silva, Yildiray Cinar, and Pere Pérez is now on sale.
Among the extras in the special edition of the first issue are a draft script,character designs, pencil and color pages, and lots more.

Marvel and Riot Games Team Up to Publish League of Legends Graphic Novels!
LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: ASHE: WARMOTHER graphic novel to go on sale this May!
New York, NY – November 19, 2018 – Marvel Entertainment and Riot Games are excited to announce a collaboration that will bring League of Legends stories to comics and graphic novels!
Kicking off with League of Legends: Ashe: Warmother – an origin story of one of the first League of Legends champions – players and comic fans alike will explore the world of Runeterra and dive into stories about their favorite characters. League of Legends: Ashe: Warmother issues will be released monthly on digital platforms beginning December 19, followed by a graphic novel published by Marvel and Riot in May 2019.
“Many fans of the Marvel Universe and comics share their interests and passion for storytelling with the gaming community,” said C.B. Cebulski, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel. “League of Legends is one of the most well-known games in the industry, and their unique world and extensive roster of rich characters and are a perfect fit for comic books. League of Legends: Ashe: Warmother will feature the comics debut of Riot Games writer Odin Austin Shafer, along with stunning artwork by The Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award-nominee Nina Vakueva (HEAVY VINYL).
Additional details on future titles and creative teams will be shared at a later date.
