This weekend is the long-awaited LongCon, a small convention hosted by the Longview Public Library here in the PNW. It is a one day event, free to the public and filled with lots of fun! Also, me running around like crazy with a gang of other cosplayers to make sure everyone is having a wonderful time.
Last year I was lucky enough to be invited to speak on a panel about problematic favorite characters, and it was a lot of fun. How could anyone not have fun at the library?! It’s a wonderful place filled with books that can (and will) take you to far away places. Made even better with vendors, panels, lip sync, and cosplay. The perfect event to attend when you haven’t gone to a convention before and want to start small, not overwhelming and with a lot less noise.
This year, the team behind LongCon have been working very hard to bring even a better convention to everyone. There will be presentations on fun topics, lip sync battle, costume contest, a follow up problematic favorites panel, games, and fun vendors to chat with and find some very cool stuff! I’ve also seen the amazing lineup of guests helping out to put on this convention, and trust me when I say you will not want to miss out on meeting and hearing from these great people!
LongCon will also be having workshops, crafts, a photo booth, and a maid cafe! As I’m sitting here writing this, I am freaking out about all the fun things I get to check out while I’m there. I’m also super giddy to just spend time with my friends, and talk more with some people I have been dying to pick their brains. Trust me when I say there will be lots of wig, cosplay, and One Piece talk coming from me at this convention.
I cannot recommend enough that if you have time tomorrow, Saturday February 22nd, come stop by to check out LongCon. Dress up if you would like, and come join in on the fun! The event is free to the public, so no worries there, and it’s being held at the Longview Public library, 1600 Louisiana St, Longview, Washington, 98632.
