Coming to you live from Kumoricon in Portland, Oregon! Not gonna lie folks, It’s been a rough day zero and day one. But, we have made it to the evening with things looking up!
First of all, I want to give the biggest of shoutouts to every single person working at the event this weekend! They are working their hardest to go above and beyond for all the attendees this year, and are constantly problem solving (so please be kind to them, it’s not their fault if stuff is hectic).
With the internet going down to start off the morning and waiting for over an hour to get checked in, to the freezing cold weather and my friend and I not remembering to bring our jackets (we have our cosplays, so I guess we have what counts the most), to the insanity of the lines. The lines for everything are a very rough time, but due to the staff being great it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. We even had some cosplay mishaps take place multiple times on day one. We found our solution in the vendor hall, where my friend and I ended up buying rain coats and sweatshirts (matching of course). Both are super cute, and dealt with our main problem for the weekend, the cold and rain.
Towards the end of the day we were able to switch from our uncomfortable new cosplays (I have to say we did look very cute as Maki and Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen). After a quick change to more comfortable streetwear anime merch, we headed straight back to the con. Once we got back I was able to score some absolutely amazing interviews, one of which ended up being the most fun I had during an interview. You all will have to wait a bit before I can get them put together after con, but the wait is worth it!
The day did end on some of the highest points ever, and I think I would do today all over again, just to get to the end time fun. What I’m talking about is the thing that made it all worth it, the BURNOUT SYNDROMES concert!!! We had so much fun rocking out to their music and their anime songs they’ve done for multiple series, the main one being from Haikyuu!! From which my favorite song is “Fly High”, really motivating and fun to listen to always.
After the concert we took a quick detour to check out the lingerie show which was completely packed and lots of fun. Then we headed back to the main concert hall to jump into the signing line for BURNOUT SYNDROMES, we ended up being first in line! We got our signatures and even got interviewed to leave a message for the band! How cool is that?! This pretty much made my whole day!
All in all we had a great time for day one, we got a few items of merchandise, with more in mind to pick up in the following days (I guess I really can’t wait to be broke!). We also have a fun line up of panels to hit tomorrow morning and we will be rocking our My Hero Academia cosplays all day Saturday!
